The Skills Lab & Simulation Center at University Hospital Basel is an interprofessional training and simulation center for medical education, postgraduate training and continuing education. Under realistic conditions, physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals train practical skills, communication, teamwork and how to manage complex clinical situations. The goal is to improve patient safety and the quality of healthcare.
The continuing education program ranges from basic surgical courses and simulator training to VR- and AR-supported simulations of medical procedures. Thanks to modern AV technology, training sequences can be observed, analyzed and used for learning processes in real time – without any risk to patients.
Its location in the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area – Main Campus supports connections between clinical practice, research, and the medtech industry. It creates space for innovative collaborations and new teaching and learning formats in medical education and simulation.
