A vision becomes a reality – new hub for life + science

April 21, 2021

Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area and SENN proudly announce the pre-opening of the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area Main Campus. Opening in summer 2022, the campus will offer a state-of-the-art working environment for startups, scaleups and established companies. The official early booking period has started.

Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area is not only the strategic partner and anchor tenant of the new building, it is also the name giver. The building, formerly known as the GRID, will be called Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area Main Campus. Meanwhile, construction work is progressing according to plan. The first tenants will be able to move into the building designed by Basel architects Herzog & de Meuron and developed by SENN in summer 2022.

Of the approximately 50,000 square meters of usable space, the innovation park will rent and develop around 6,000 square meters. The other tenants known so far are Basilea Pharmaceutica AG, Hamilton Bonaduz AG, Alltimm GmbH and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Basel.

Ready-made and custom-made

The Main Campus of the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area offers two expansion concepts: on the one hand, companies can rent flexible, furnished spaces with up to 500 square meters. On the other hand, unfurnished space of 500 square meters or more is available, which will be developed according to the specifications of the companies. Around 2,000 people will be able to work on five floors in state-of-the-art offices and laboratories for teaching, research and development. The heart is the green and tree-planted inner courtyard the size of a soccer field, where retail and gastronomy will also be present.

A dynamic ecosystem

With the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area, the neighboring new building of the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, and already resident companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Idorsia and Skan, the innovation ecosystem contributes to an even stronger cluster for life sciences, biotech, public health and medtech in the Basel Area.
