A new deep tech success story takes shape in the Jura: Inveel

May 4, 2026

The Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area – Jura Campus is home to another promising company, this time in deep tech: Inveel. The startup develops advanced sensing materials that help robots detect contact and better respond to their surroundings. Their success adds fresh momentum to the site and highlights the kind of high-potential venture that can thrive in the canton of Jura.

For the region, this is a meaningful step and a clear example of how targeted support, strong networks and the right location can help a young company gain traction and grow.

A company shaping the next generation of robotics

Inveel works on a technology that helps machines better understand the physical world around them. Its sensing layer can be integrated into robotic systems to detect inputs such as touch, distance and temperature. That can improve how robots operate in settings where precision, safety and responsiveness matter.

Their technology has strong potential in fields such as medtech, industrial automation and collaborative robotics. As machines increasingly work alongside people, the ability to sense contact and react in real time becomes more important.

Inveel was co-founded by Dr. Barbara Horvath and builds on scientific work with roots at the Paul Scherrer Institute. The company brings together strong research, practical engineering and a clear ambition to create solutions that can work at scale.

Why the Jura stands out for Inveel

Inveel’s presence at Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area – Jura Campus reflects more than a new address. It points to a deeper fit between the company’s future plans and what the canton can offer.

The canton of Jura combines industrial know-how, technical skill and a supportive environment for growing companies. That mix is especially valuable for startups that are moving from development to validation and then toward production.

For a company like Inveel, that matters. The team is not only refining a product. It is also building the conditions for long-term growth. The Jura offers the kind of setting where advanced technologies can move closer to industrial use.

InnoJura in action

Inveel is also a strong success story for the InnoJura Accelerator (then known as the i4Challenge Accelerator).

The company joined the program in November 2024. At that point, the team had already developed a strong technical foundation. The key challenge was deciding where to focus first.

That is a common issue for deep tech startups. A technology may have broad promise, but early success depends on choosing the right market and solving the right problem first.

Through the accelerator program, Inveel worked on that strategic focus. The program helped the team assess opportunities in a more structured way and narrow down where their solution could create the strongest value. That kind of clarity is essential for companies developing advanced technologies with multiple possible applications.

Today, Inveel stands as a strong example of what the InnoJura Program is designed to support: companies with deep expertise, global potential and a meaningful connection to the Jura.

Quotation Marks

Because of the watchmaking history in the region, there's a lot of skilled technicians and practical expertise, which aligns with Inveel's needs as we move towards production.

Looking ahead

Inveel is now moving into an important next stage, with product testing and validation underway. That work will help shape the company’s commercial path and build the evidence needed for future scale-up.

Its growing presence in the canton has extended from our Jura Campus site to our sibling park, Switzerland Innovation Park Innovaare, which adds another encouraging signal for the regional ecosystem.
We’re proud to see Inveel as part of our community and equally proud to see the company’s journey reflect what the InnoJura Program, powered by the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area – Jura Campus can help make possible.
